Essie – “Wicked” (swatch and full review)

Lately I’ve been really into The Vampire Diaries. I’ve been watching it on Netflix and I’m halfway through season 2. While watching the show there was a color that constantly kept coming back to me while watching the series: Essie’s “wicked” . I remember when this color first caught my attention when I saw this ad:

Doesn’t that look just delicious!!!. As soon as I found it,Β I bought it and have loved it since. Alrighty, well enjoy the swatches =)

According to the Essie website wicked:

“a deep and dark creamy sinister red”

by appearance it looks brown and sometimes even black its AWESOME!!

Rating overall (excellent, good, fair, poor):

Excellent, Wicked is a dark color meaning that even though Essie is infamous for having a thin light formula this color is easy to apply the first coat goes on light and the second coat seals the color and makes it deep! its perfect!

Color (1-5):

5 – This is by far one of my favorite colors when I’m looking for a nice evening color this is usually my top choice.

Formula (excellent, good, fair, poor):

Good – Its not the best formula I’ve ever used but its good!

I used two coats to match the color on the bottle

Base coat/ Top coat:

i used base coat, as one always should with dark colors since they have a tendency to stain. Also, Essie uses red pigment in this color and red by personal experience stains the most! I used OPI base coat and no top coat so you can see the natural shine of the polish itself so imagine how amazing it would look with the seche vite top coat!!

It did stain my skin while I was taking it off luckily I used a base coat and my nail was stain free.

Dry time (fast, normal, slow):

Fast – it dried a lot faster than I expected it to

Clean up (easy, messy, hard):

Messy – since it does stain it makes it a little messy for clean up

Removal (fast, normal, slow):

Average price : 8.00USD

Would I recommend to a friend:

Yes – This color freaking rocks I would recommend even to everyone for pretty much any event or all week wear.

Where to purchase:

Amazon <- $3.97 On sale (on 8/7/2012)

Lovely color! Colors like this are really eye catching, because they’re not black and make people look twice πŸ™‚ Also great for when you want a dark, deep polish, but don’t want something as harsh as black.

Your swatches have been so pretty lately. I know you work hard at it. Can I suggest something for ‘clean up’? Before you paint your nails take some Vaseline or petroleum jelly on a q-tip and outline your cuticles with it before you paint. Then IF you have to do any clean up, it will be a breeze be ause the Vaseline acts as a barrier between your skin and the polish. If you’re having a hard time keeping your cuticles and side edges free, go ahead and Vaseline your cuticles and sides. Works great, especially with the darker colors. And, btw this color is gorgeous. I looked at it but after seeing your post I’m def going to buy it. Thanks for sharing.
